Description
A Regency sewing box in rare burr yew. The top with kingwood cross banding and ebony and box rope twist, surrounding a hand coloured print. The key locks the box. With boxwood edging emphasizing the sarcophagus shape. Pretty ring handles to the sides and standing on lions paw feet.
Inside is a turquoise green fitted tray which lifts out to reveal a storage area. The work box is fitted with a set of eight rosewood cotton reels, a bone thread tidy, silk covered needle book and a lignum thimble. The tools are not all original to the box. Measures 9 ½” x 7 ½” x 5” SOLD.
