Description
A small Regency box with chinoiserie decoration. The box is sound and original and comes with a tiny key to lock and mother of pearl key tag. The box is painted off white and the top is decorated with Chinese figures standing amongst a willow tree and grasses. The borders are lined with red and black lines and filled with floral gilded swags. The four compartments inside are lined with blue antique paper.
The base has some scratched letters, see photos. It stands on four brass ball feet, has original brass hinges, fancy escutcheon and ring handle to the top. It shuts perfectly with no gapes, a testament to the craftsman. Measures 6 1/2″ x 4″ x 2 1/4″ high.
