A bergere chair with gilded roses. This late 19th century large carved gilt wood bergere chair has an arched and carved back. The arms ending in acanthus carved and scrolled arms with gilding. Pretty carved rose posy on the back with gilding. It has a caned back and double caned sides and caned seat all intact. The round seat has a removable soft cushion. With slender turned, carved and fluted legs. It has curved decorated front, side and back rails. Beech wood and cane.
Romantic Louis XVI in style and in very good condition but probably made in England. The gilding is naturally worn in places which adds to its charm. Measures 40″ high x 25″ x 25″. SOLD.
