Small Victorian sewing box

£85.00

A small Victorian sewing box for tiny tools.

Description

A small Victorian sewing box for tiny tools. These boxes typically housed those essential items such as a thimble, waxer, emery, pincushion or tape measure. This was made in tortoiseshell with white metal fittings. The push button clasp snaps shut securely and the squashed bun feet set it off well. The silk in the lid has been replaced to match the colour of the original paper lining. It measures 2 3/4″ long x 1 14/16″ deep x 1 1/8″ high. Each of the three compartments in the box are approximately 1 1/2″ x 3/4″. These dividers were often missing. Considering its age and use it is in great condition.
