Description
Mulberry tea caddy, turned and carved as a medlar, in the eighteenth century style. The curved box stop hinge and curved lock are brass, the escutcheon is ivory. There is no key. Inside the lead lining is tea stained and corroded but intact. A very unusual shape with six sides. Rich dark colour and very tactile. The weight is 400grams, so feels substantial.
Measures 118mm (4 5/8″) diameter x 135mm (5 3/8″) high.
