Description
A Tunbridge ware glove box with pillow top, floral design and fine parquetry edging. It comes with a little key with bone key tag and does lock. We never recommend locking boxes however. The rosewood veneer is beautifully figured, and nearly all the minute tiles are in place. The pillow top shows a floral bouquet with a fine zigzag edging composed of minute tiles in various woods. Inside the original paper lining remains in a simple ivory and grey pattern. It shows little marks of use, and a padded silk insert has been added, perhaps for jewellery or sewing tools. The box measures 10″ long x 3 1/2″ deep x 2 3/8″ high. Structurally sound and re-polished.
