Description
A Victorian jewellery and vanity box with blue velvet lining. The box features Rio rosewood beautifully figured and richly coloured, all intact. Inlaid on the top and front with mother of pearl and abalone inlays. A key with mother of pearl tag is present but the lock does not work. Inside are compartments for matching perfume bottles and silver plated containers, (just one odd lid). The central tray lifts out with storage underneath. Love letters can be stored inside the pocket hidden behind the lid. The lid is lined with ruched blue velvet inside a gilded decorative border. The velvet lined jewellery tray is in very good condition beneath the vanity compartment. Measures 12″ x 9″ x 7 3/8″ or 30cm x 22cm x 18cm approximately.
