A floral basket tape measure in ivory from the nineteenth century. A pretty carved basket brimming with roses, tulips and leaves surrounding the winder. Typical of items carved in the Dieppe region of France. The long pink silk tape has inches marked at the end divided into quarters. The very end of the tape is very delicate and there is an old faint hairline fissure in the ivory when closely examined. The ivory is a very pale colour all around. A very charming piece for the antique sewing box. It measures 2″ high x 1 1/4″ at the widest.
