Gustave Dore; (1832 – 1883).
renowned French artist, engraver, illustrator and sculptor worked mostly with wood and steel engraving.

This splendid heavy volume measuring 32cm x 22cm x 6cm has a five ribbed spine with gold lettering. The spine and front cover are just parting company but could be repaired. Condition inside is good and clean, there is slight darkening to the page edges. There is very little occasional foxing. The actual pages are well bound together. The leather binding has age wear on the corners.

The engravings are amazing in detail and are very varied. There is a detailed explanatory text for each engraving. This would be an inspirational addition to your collection and a volume to treasure.
