A Georgian tea caddy with a single compartment. This is a richly figured mahogany with boxwood edges all around and has a gilded brass handle on the lid. The interior has a floating lid for the tea, a neatly patinated lead lined base and brown marbled paper lining in the lid and under the base. There are two tiny corners which have had a repair at the back and side on close inspection. It sits very well with a closely fitting lid. The lock does not work but there is also a key. Measuring 4 3/4″ long x 4 10/16″ high x 3 3/4″ deep. With tiny marks of wear as this has had two hundred years of use.
