£275.00

A late regency tea caddy with partridge wood veneers, of bombe shape and with boxwood stringing.

Description

A late Regency tea caddy with partridge wood veneers, of bombe shape with boxwood stringing and an ivory escutcheon. At the sides are brass ring handles and it stands on brass eagle claw feet. It has the original paper lining inside the lid, above three compartments. The central compartment has a replacement mixing bowl. This is flanked on either side by tea compartments with rippled mahogany lids. These lids are edged with ebony and boxwood stringing, another sign of quality. The compartments have been neatly paper lined at a later date. This tea caddy is a good example of an unusual shape combined with the use of expensive veneers. Measures 12″ x 6 1/2″ x 6 1/4″.
