Description
A treen pot with screw on lid possibly for spices. From the early nineteenth century, possibly late Georgian. This looks like a fruit wood. With remnants of painted decoration to the lid; a dark six sided star shape. Also a red line around the border and in the center of the lid. Not easy to see unless a magnifying glass is used. There has been a stress crack in the lid, long ago, now secure. Nice patina, figuring and minute blemishes from wear and tear, all adding to its character.
