Description

A William and Mary carver arm chair from the 1700’s. I suspect it has been upholstered at a later date. It has superb scrolling arms on turned supports which are joined by straight and turned stretchers. The wood showing is mahogany in an age when oak and walnut were more common, so it appears to be an early use of this timber. The seat under the upholstery is beech. All the structure is sound, the wooden pegs are slightly proud which is a sign of age. The present faux crewel work upholstery cover is worn and stained but the upholstery underneath is firm. Normal wear and tear for an early chair. This can be collected or a courier can be arranged.
The back height is 53″ from the floor, the seat height is 17″ and the width between the arms is 22 1/2″.
